Independent University, Bangladesh in association with Shadhona, a centre for the advancement of South Asian culture, hosted an enchanting sitar recital on March 10 at its auditorium. Renowned sitar exponent Irshad Khan gave a two-hour performance at the event, playing Ragas Yaman, Khamaj and Bhairavi, says a press release.

Dr. A Majeed Khan, President Emeritus and Founder President of IUB; Mr. Abdul Hai Sarker, Chairman, ESTCDT; Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB; trustee board members, deans and senior members of the faculty and management of IUB enjoyed the recital.

Irshad Khan is the son of Ustad Imrat Khan and nephew of the legendary sitarist Ustad Vilayat Khan. He was born in Kolkata and now lives in Canada. One of the foremost representatives of the Imdadkhani Etawa Gharana, Irshad Khan is internationally recognised as a leading sitar and surbahar exponents of his generation.
