Musician Kaiser Mohammed Islam is gearing up for his online releases, composed and recorded in his Chiroharith Studio. He is also a teacher and a poet.

Trailing along the success of his solo albums "Chiroharith Manush" (2005) and "Shohojat" (2008), the artiste has been honoured with many prestigious awards, including the Benson & Hedges (2001) and best composer at Dhaka International Music School (2012), among others. He founded the Chiroharith Music School in 2006. In a candid chat with The Daily Star, the musician shares his upcoming plans and more.

How has the pandemic affected you?

The pandemic affected me heavily, but I took it as a chance to think about music in a different way. I concentrated on covering the songs of Sachin Dev Burman. Slowly, I tilted towards songwriting with the number "Ekon Prithibi" and released it on my YouTube channel. I went on to come up with a series of tracks which depict my perception of life and the world as a whole. The pandemic has turned into an opportunity for me as it has restored my enthusiasm and revived my passion.

What are you currently busy with?

Currently, I am busy with my family, livelihood, and writing. I have also been actively interacting with my students, as we have been offering regular online classes and sessions at Chiroharith Music School. Alongside that, I have been focusing on new compositions and recently released the numbers "Jonmo Holo Amar", "Bondhutter Aj Boroi Akal", "Jibon Ekta Golpo", "Brishti Tomake Apatoto Biday Dilam", "Novemborer Seshe", "Aj Jeno Prithibitake Notun Kore Chena Holo", "Ekta Gaan Ami Gai", and "Prithibir Kobita". The lockdown has given me time to concentrate and create new songs.

Do you have any other passion other than music?

I am a passionate reader of both poetry and prose. So, I always start my day with reading a new poem either written by me or others.

What are your future plans?

I have always wanted to be a musician, and started working towards this dream decades ago. However, I had to put it on hold for a certain period due to personal issues. Having said that, I am ready to embrace my dream now by composing memorable melodies for the masses.
