Kazi Hablu appointed as Director of Music at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy
Legendary percussionist and musician Kazi Hablu has been appointed as the Director of Music at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).
The official announcement, which came on December 14, was appreciated by the musical fraternity of Bangladesh.
"I am grateful to the government for the responsibility," says the artiste. "Our country has a lot of talented individuals, and my primary purpose will be to highlight them accordingly." Kazi Hablu further mentioned that he would like all musicians to step up and create a community that is more helpful towards each other.
Kazi Hablu was a founding member of Bangladesh's first band after liberation, Spondon. He also played with Azam Khan in his band Uccharon, and is considered one of the inspirations behind modern percussive sounds in Bangladeshi audio. He performed all over the world, in venues like Madison Square Garden and Shrine Auditorium in the USA, and Royal Albert Hall in the UK.
