Renowned lyricist and freedom fighter Osman Shawkat died to a cardiac arrestyesterday at his residence in the capital’s Banasree.

Lyricist Kabir Bakul, also joint secretary of Geetikabi Sangha, confirmed the news to The Daily Star

Osman Shawkat was laid to rest at the Zurain graveyard after his Namaz-e-Janaza took after zuhr prayers today. He was also given a guard of honour by the authorities.
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
