Madonna narrates Qandeel Baloch short story
Pop legend Madonna said she's proud to narrate a new film about the late Qandeel Baloch, a Pakistani celebrity she calls "unabashedly bold and fiercely beautiful."
Baloch was killed by her brother in June for "sullying his family's honour." He was arrested in July, and said he didn't have any regrets about murdering his sister, reports Indian daily The Times of India.
The film, 'Qandeel Baloch: A Very Short Story," is made by two-time Academy winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharbeen Obaid Chinoy, a personal friend of Madonna's.
In the film, Madonna describes how Qandeel's actions "polarised a nation," drawing heavy criticism from religious conservatives on the one hand, and gaining legions of fans on social media on the other.
"But she fought them all, until the day she was attacked in her own home by her own brother," Madonna said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

The seven-time Grammy Award winner also said she was happy "positive change" was occurring in Pakistan.
"The Pakistan government finally just passed the anti-honor killing bill, closing the loophole that allowed killers to walk free!...Too bad Quandeel and so many other had to die first" she wrote.
Until last week, it was common in Pakistan for those who murdered in the name of 'honour' to escape severe punishment after being 'forgiven' by a family member of the victim. But on October 6, the Pakistan National Assembly passed a bill that makes it incumbent on judges to sentence perpetrators of 'honour' killings to life in prison, the clemency of the victim's relatives notwithstanding.
Chinoy's film is a compilation of clips from news reports about Qandeel and videos she appeared in.
