Nasiruddin Yousuff’s condition improves

Eminent cultural and theatre personality Nasiruddin Yousuff’s physical condition has improved, as confirmed by the artiste himself over a phone call with The Daily Star. He had tested positive for Covid-19, and was admitted to the capital’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) yesterday.

Eminent cultural and theatre personality Nasiruddin Yousuff's physical condition has improved, as confirmed by the artiste himself over a phone call with The Daily Star. He had tested positive for Covid-19, and was admitted to the capital's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) yesterday.

"My fever has decreased, and I am feeling better now," he said. "The doctor advised me to take full rest, and I am following his directions while maintaining antibiotic doses regularly."

The famed artiste has asked fans and well-wishers to pray for his speedy recovery.  

Later in the day, his daughter Esha Yousuf posted in social media that her, her mother and husband have all tested negative for Covid-19.

Nasiruddin Yousuff is the founder of Dhaka Theatre, founder president of Bangladesh Gram Theatre and founder secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation. He came into direction with the film 'Jesus of the Seventy'.

His best directorial work was arguably in 'Guerilla', which has won the National Film Award in 11 categories. The full-length feature film also received the NETPAC Best Asian Cinema Award in the 17th Kolkata Film Festival. During the Liberation War, he served as the Commander of Dhaka North Mukti Bahini. He won the coveted Ekushey Padak in 2010.
