Bangladesh Film Festival 2017, organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), was held in 64 districts in their respective Shilpakala Academy premises. This year's festival received 44 films, in five different categories from 64 districts across Bangladesh.

The 16-day festival successfully came to an end on October 21 with an award-giving ceremony and screening of the best films at this year's festival.

Among 11 contemporary films, three films were awarded in three categories.

Tauquir Ahmed's “Oggatonama” (2016) won the Best Film Award along with prize money worth Tk 2 lakh. The director also won the Best Film Director Award and won a prize of Tk 1 lakh.

Rubaiyat Hossain's “Under Construction” (2015) won the Special Jury Award, receiving prize money worth Tk 50,000. Actor Rikita Nandini Shimu, who also starred in the film, received the award on behalf of the whole team.

Prominent actor and filmmaker Syed Hasan Imam, filmmaker and festival jury committee chairman Masihuddin Shaker, Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and others were present at the programme.

Among the films screened at the festival were Tareq Masud's “Matir Moyna”, Tanvir Mokammel's “Chitra Nadir Parey”, Sheikh Niyamat Ali and Masiuddin Shaker's “Surja Dighal Bari”, Nurul Alam Atik's “Duub Shatar”, Alamgir Kabir's “Surja Kannya”, Badal Rahman's “Emiler Goenda Bahini”, and Morshedul Islam's “Chaka”.

The concluding ceremony was held at Shilpakala Academy's Art Gallery Auditorium.
