Painting competition

A group of children and youngsters participating in a painting competition recently titled Save Jail Canal in Barisal city to be freed from encroachments.

 The participants in the competition projected the sufferings of citizens residing on both sides of the canal and protested against construction of culverts, roads, houses, shops, fish farms across the canal which has caused the canal to lose its navigability by impeding the current.

 The programme held at the bank of Jail canal near Najirpole point was organised by Sammilito Nadi Khal Rakkha Committee.

However, Barisal district administration planned a cleaning programme including all social and educational institutions at the Bank of Jail canal.

Dr. Gazi Saifuzzaman, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal called on all to participate in the cleaning programme.
