Katy Perry's second Capitol Records album, “Teenage Dream”, floated past the 3 million US sales mark, according to Nielsen Music. The former No. 1 album sold another 1,000 copies in the week ending August 13. The set was released in 2010, debuted atop the chart, and has spent 224 weeks (and counting) on the list. It spawned five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, equaling the record set by Michael Jackson's “Bad” for the most No. 1 Hot 100 hits from one album.

On the latest Billboard 200 chart (dated Aug. 29), Luke Bryan's “Kill the Lights” album opened at No. 1 in the week ending August 13, followed by also-arriving Dr. Dre, who saw his Compton set launch at No. 2.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week's most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
