Renowned poet Helal Hafiz was admitted to Combined Military Hospital with old-age complications yesterday.

Renowned poet Helal Hafiz was admitted to Combined Military Hospital with old-age complications yesterday.

Elias Khan, general secretary of National Press Club, confirmed the matter to The Daily Star.

He said the 72-year-old poet's health condition is currently stable and his medical examinations will start tomorrow.

Helal Hafiz was born on October 7, 1948 in Netrokona.

In 1986, his first collection of poetry, Je JaleAgunJwale (The Water Where Fire Burns), was published. He won the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2014 for his poetry.
