Noted actor Purnima first made her mark upon the Bangladesh film industry in 1998, and since then has been gracing the big screen in one superhit film after another. These days, however, the artiste has been focusing on small screen projects. Recently, a new spotlight has been shone on her as a TV programme host. In a recent interview with The Daily Star, the actor opened up about her recent activities and more.

How popular has your show, “Ebong Purnima” become?

Purnima: I have been overwhelmed by all the positive responses for the show. I have been enjoying hosting immensely, and everyone's approval is making the experience even better.

What is more challenging, acting or hosting?

Purnima: Each is difficult in its own way, but since I am more experienced in acting, hosting has become more challenging in comparison. But I have been enjoying it a great deal, and because of my programme on RTV, l have been receiving more offers for stage shows.

How do you prepare for your show as a host?

Purnima: Just like a journalist, I have to research my subject or the person being interviewed very thoroughly before hosting. The job would be difficult to do otherwise.

How long will “Ebong Purnima” run on air?

Purnima: In the beginning, I was told there would be 15 episodes for the programme, but since it has grown in popularity the numbers have moved up to 50 or 52. This number may increase again, depending on how well it continues to do.

How many Eid programmes will you appear in this year?

Purnima: I am going to be in two tele-fictions. I have wrapped up shooting for one. My co-stars are Emon and Shajal respectively. I am currently in talks to host a special talk show during the holiday, which will have five episodes.
