Remembering Lucky Akhand with his greatest hits

Yesterday marked the third death anniversary of legendary singer-composer and freedom fighter Lucky Akhand.  On the occasion, we take a look at some of his most brilliant compositions, that have won the hearts of millions through the years.

Ghuddi was released nearly four decades ago. The soundtrack of the film is popular even today. Abar Elo Je Shondha from the film is one of the most celebrated songs of all time. The lines, Cholo na ghure ashi, ojana te, jekhane nodi eshe theme geche, are bound to make listeners nostalgic.

Another hit number from Ghuddi, Ke Bashi Bajay Re, is also one of Lucky Akhand's finest compositions. There have been different arrangements and variations of the song over the years and the powerful lyrics still strikes a chord with listeners.

Agey Jodi Jantam, a poignant and widely appreciated masterpiece of the legend, reflects on the pain and sufferings of a romance.

Amay Dekona, Ferano Jabe Na, released in 1999, is another classic, while songs like Mamonia, Ei Neel Monihar, Ghum Ashe Na, Sritir Kagoj, Polatok Ami, Jodi Prithibi Take Dhori, Neela and Ghumiye Poro among others are considered musical gems.
