Versatile actress Rosy Siddiqui has not only proven herself on the silver screen but also has two-and-a-half decades in theatre behind her. The highly talented artiste recently had a chat with The Daily Star, about her professional and personal life.

Any new movies for you on the horizon?

Rosy: Twenty two years after doing “Padma Nadir Majhi” with Goutam Ghose, I am playing a small role in his new film “Shonkhochil”. The shooting begins in Satkhira around March 20. I don't know if this will be my last movie with Goutam Ghose, but I am hopeful that it won't be so.

Why do you prefer theatre?

Rosy: It gives a person the freedom to act the way they want, or be what they want to be. I will never compromise on my love for theatre. I am even ready to fight with my husband for this proclivity (laughs).

What do you usually do on weekends?

Rosy: To be honest, for the last one year, I haven't even had a weekend. I have a daughter who will be appearing for her O-Levels soon. I give most of my time to her. It is very essential to be around a child, especially during such times. Their entire future rests on this. Moreover, the political situation in the country has left me with no choice, but to be with her constantly whenever she is going out for her classes.

Is it hard for you to balance family and your professional life?

Rosy: I give full-time attention to my family, and whatever time I have left after that is dedicated to my profession. I love working in theatre even more so than on the screen. I work in the media because I like it. I keep my professional and personal lives separate, as I am a mother of two.
