Sisimpur launches eLearning platform ‘Sisimpur’ app
Sesame Workshop Bangladesh, a non-profit educational organisation, launched a new eLearning platform, the Sisimpur app. The announcement of the interactive eLearning platform builds on Sisimpur's wide reach on broadcast television and its popular YouTube channel. Children and families will now have access to Sisimpur's interactive videos, storybooks, puzzles, and games. The platform is now accessible as an app, available at Google Play Store.
Sesame Workshop Bangladesh hosted an online event recently on the Sisimpur official Facebook page and YouTube channel. Distinguished guests including the State Minister of Information Dr Md Murad Hasan, Ms Kazi Rowshan Akhter, Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, People's Republic of Bangladesh, Derrick S Brown, Mission Director, USAID Bangladesh, Dr A K M Reazul Hassan, Member of Primary Curriculum at NCTB, Sara Zaker, Vice Chairperson, Asiatic 360 and Mohammad Shah Alam, Executive Director, Sesame Workshop Bangladesh shared their remarks at the event.
Sisimpur airs through BTV, Duronto TV and Maasranga TV seven days a week, reaching around 10 million children across Bangladesh with early educational media. Sisimpur is also available on its official YouTube channel, which has received 90 million views over the last two years.
USAID's Early Childhood Development Mass Media Activity, Sisimpur, is a four-year initiative that has produced 104 brand new episodes and a range of Public Service Announcements, 40 new storybooks, and an e-learning platform. New contents have covered the content areas of early grade reading and addressed development objectives through the following life skills themes - Global Health (including nutrition), Global Climate Change, Democracy and Governance, and Disaster Preparedness. Sesame Workshop Bangladesh has distributed 60,000 Sisimpur storybooks to primary schools across Bangladesh to help children in pre-primary to Class III to improve their Bangla reading skills. Sisimpur, an original Bangladeshi adaptation of Sesame Street, addresses the immediate needs of preschoolers with an emphasis on cognitive and socio-emotional development.
