Spring festival in Sylhet

Braving the ongoing political turmoil, the Spring Festival 1421 was observed in Sylhet with much enthusiasm on Friday.

Thousands of young people in colourful attire gathered at the city's Sylhet Sanskrit College premises. Social welfare minister Syed Mohsin Ali formally inaugurated the festival in the morning.

Artistes from Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstaha, Mrittikay Mohakal, Anandaloke, Sylhet Art and Culture Institute, Shruti, Brindashwar and Paromita participated in the daylong event.

Besides, children took part in the drawing and Mehdi contest as wellGeneral Secretary of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote's Sylhet chapter, Shamsul Alam Selim handed over prizes to the winners.

Daylong celebrations were also arranged at the Shahjalal University University of Science & Technology, Sylhet Agricultural University and District Shilpakala Academy.
