Suborna Mustafa’s birthday today
Ekushay Padak and National Award winning actor Suborna Mustafa has been ruling over the showbiz industry for decades. Following in the footsteps of her father Golam Mustafa, the diva has appeared in theatre, television and films, acing every role she has played.
Alongside acting, the star is also serving as a member of parliament, representing the Reserved Women's Seat-4. Today marks the birthday of this eminent actor.
Suborna Mustafa entered the industry with the television drama "Borof Gola Nodi". She went on to appear in many other popular TV serials, including "Kothau Keu Nei" (1990), "Aaj Robibar" (1999) and "Ayomoy", among many others.
Speaking of her evergreen performances, Syed Salahuddin Zaki's "Ghuddi" (1980), where she played the titular character, will always remain a milestone in her career. Her charismatic charm paired with Raisul Islam Asad's extraordinary screen presence in the Happy Akhand composition "Abar Elo Je Shondha" has mesmerises the audience even today.
Her chemistry with Zafar Iqbal in the song "Amar Shara Deho Kheyo Go Mati", sung by Andrew Kishore for the "Noyoner Alo" (1984) was another such cherished experience for her fans.
Suborna Mustafa went on to appear in Kazi Zaheer's "Notun Bou" (1983) where she shared the screen with Afzal Hossain, winning a National Award for her performance. She also earned positive criticisms for her portrayal of the character Runu in "Shonkhonil Karagar" (1992), a film adaptation of Humayun Ahmed's novel of the same name.
Over the years, she has worked in various blockbusters, including Syed Hasan Imam's "Laal Shobujer Pala" (1981), "Gohin Baluchor" (2017), and "Shuruj Miah" (1985), among numerous others. The actor has also in many commercial hits in her long and illustrious career. Her last film "Gondi" (2020) where she was paired with Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.
The diva has also been associated with theatre for over 2 decades. Having started her journey with the plays "Jaundice" and "Bibidh Saloon", the actor still appears in numerous other productions including "Keramot Mongol", "Koshai" and "Musntashir Fantasy" by Dhaka Theatre, with "Joyboti Konnar Mon" being his one of the most cherished ones.
"I will be spending my birthday with close friends and family this year and also intend to do a bit of what I love best — acting," says Suborna Mustafa. "There is nothing else that I enjoy rather than acting. I have been working in this profession my whole life and hope to be doing it for all eternity."
