Treat for theatre lovers

With the theme “Harano Din-er Duarey Mati Praner Joarey”, Prachyanat School of Acting and Design celebrated its 15th anniversary. To observe the momentous occasion, a daylong programme was held yesterday at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Theatre archivists brought out a colourful rally accompanied with the pulsating beats of music, puppetry and more. A performance of riveting Mayurbhanj Chhau dance marked the inauguration. Eminent thespian Mamunur Rashid with mountaineers Nishat Majumdar and MA Muhit formally inaugurated the event.

The occasion included a collage performance of several plays by the artistes of the school; presentation of Gazir Gaan by the artistes of Mymensingh; reminiscences; documentary screening; a vibrant open adda; recognition of teachers, directors and coordinators of Prachyanat; the staging of the concluding production “Siraj-Ud-Doula” by the 30th batch and a scintillating display of fireworks at night.
