“Twin Peaks” releases insane cast list
David Lynch has wrapped up principal photography on his highly-anticipated “Twin Peaks” revival and in honour of the occasion Showtime released an incredible the full cast list … boasting 217 names. About 35 of them returning cast members from the original series, including Ray Wise, Alicia Witt, Warren Frost, Dana Ashbrook, Sherilyn Fenn, and of course, series star Kyle MacLachlan, and even David Duchovny.
As for other names on the expansive list, some are expected from previous casting reports, including Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Balthazar Getty, as well as two of Lynch's former leading ladies, Naomi Watts and Laura Dern. The rest of the list is packed with strange and unexpected delights. Michael Cera, grunge icon and Pearl Jam front-man Eddie Vedder, and industrial metal band Nine Inch Nails' vocal Trent Reznor are all on board. Monica Bellucci, Berenice Marlowe, Tim Roth and Sara Paxton have also signed up, though sadly Peter Sarsgaard, despite appearing in early casting reports, was nowhere to be found.
The reboot of the 90s cult classic TV series had a bit of a troubled production process when Lynch threatened to walk after a series of budget disputes with the network. Fortunatly, that issue was solved in short order, the series granted an extended episode order, and the release date was bumped back to 2017 to accommodate. Now that picture is locked, and based on the cast list it's going to be every bit as unpredictable as everyone hoped.
