Natyakendra to celebrate 25th anniversary today

Natyakendra, one of the leading theatre troupes of the country, will celebrate its 25th anniversary today at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Marking the occasion, the troupe is staging two new productions--“Bondukjuddho” and “Gadharhaat”.

Natyakendra, one of the leading theatre troupes of the country, will celebrate its 25th anniversary today at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Marking the occasion, the troupe is staging two new productions--"Bondukjuddho" and "Gadharhaat".

The programme will include a brief discussion, and feature a musical segment. Following the ceremony, Natyakendra will stage its new plays.

"Bondukjuddho" is adapted from "The Trap" by noted Egyptian playwright Alfred Farag. Ariq Anam Khan, Emon, Nirzash and others portray different roles in the play.

"Gadharhaat" has been adapted from Egyptian playwright Tawfiq al-Hakim's "The Donkey Market". Saif Ahmed, Sangeeta Chowdhury, Noman Ahmed and Khan Atik bring up the cast.

Nasirul Huq Khokon has designed lights for both the plays, while Khandakar Sazia Afreen Lubna has done the costume design.
