HBO Asia original series "Invisible Stories", in which a crucial role was portrayed by Bangladeshi actor Sudip Biswas, has won the award for best drama in Asia at the inaugural ContentAsia Awards.

The six-part series, which stars names like Golden Horse Award-winning Yeo Yann Yann, was created by Singaporean director Ler Jiyuan and depicted stories from a fictional heartland housing estate in Singapore.

It won the award in the category Best Drama Series/Telefilm Made for a Local Asian Market, reports The Straits Times.

The awards, owned and operated by ContentAsia, a 14-year-old information platform which offers insights into Asia's content environment, has awards for several types of content.

Sudip Biswas played the role of Syeed, a Bangladeshi migrant worker who sends remittance to his motherland, the protagonist of episode 5 of the series.

"My director Ler LerLer got so excited as well as emotional after getting the #contentasiaawards (Best Drama) that he dedicated this award to all the cast and crew members of #InvisibleStories #hboasia," Sudip said in a Facebook post.

"Food Lore" (2019), an HBO Asia original anthology series centred on Asian cuisine, took home the award for Best Asian Drama for a Regional/International Market, while Erik Matti, the Filipino director of the first episode of "Food Lore", titled "Island Of Dreams", was named Best Director of a Scripted TV Programme.
