“Dipu Number Two” on Channel i

“Dipu Number Two”, arguably the most famous adolescent-centred film ever made in Bangladesh, will air today on Channel i at 1:05pm. Directed by Morshedul Islam from Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal's adolescent novel of the same title, the 1996 film stars Babita, Bulbul Ahmed, Abul Khair, Dolly Zahur and Golam Mustafa among the familiar names, but it was schoolboy Arun Saha in the titular role, that won one of the two National Film Awards for the film, as Best child Artiste (the other was for Bulbul Ahmed for Best Supporting Actor).

The film chronicles the journey of a young boy raised by a single father to a new school, where he fits in, finds new friends and discovers himself in new light, and goes on an epic adventure.
