ATN Bangla will premiere “Shonabhan” tonight at 11:30, a new drama series based on the stage play “Shonabhaner Pala”, by Bogra Theatre. The play has been written by Taufiq Hasan Moina and adapted into a screenplay by Kazi Sushmin Afsana in Bogra dialect, and jointly directed by SM Shaheen and Shahid Mithu.

The play's main cast includes Lutfor Rahman George, Afroza Banu, Mir Sabbir, Farhana Mili, Sharmin Joha Shoshi and Abid Rehan, along with several members from various theatre groups. The narrative centres on two sisters and two brothers, among whom Shona is the youngest and Hatem, a university student, is the eldest. The siblings are orphaned, and have thus been raised by their paternal uncle and aunt. Conflicts arise when their uncle is made Chairman of the pro-Pakistan “Shanti Committee” during the Liberation War, but Hatem returns home to rouse the village youth into taking up arms and joining the fight for freedom.
