“Shubha” on Channel i

Marking Rabindranath Tagore's 76th death anniversary (August 7), Channel i will air film “Shubha”, based on Tagore's short story of the same name. The film, adapted and directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam, casts Shakib Khan, Purnima, Sujata, Tushar Khan, Saleh Ahmed, Chashi Nazrul and others.

The story of the film revolves around village girl Shubha, who is deaf and dumb and thus is alienated by her peers. She forms a special connection with local youth Pratap, but when Pratap's father rejects the marriage proposal from Shubha's father, Shubha and her family move to Kolkata. Shubha is married off to Nibaran, but it is only after the wedding that Nibaran finds out that Shubha cannot speak.
