‘Jatiyo Nazrul Sammelan’ begins in Chapainawabganj

A three-day event, titled Jatiyo Nazrul Sammelan was inaugurated at the premises of Nawabganj Government College in Chapainawabganj town, recently. Nazrul Institute and Ministry for Cultural Affairs jointly organised the programme with the help of the local district administration.

Once jobless, Abul Kashem now earns Tk 4 lakh a year by selling vermicompost fertiliser prepared at his village Mayapukur in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila. The 34-year-old is now the inspiration for many jobless youths in his locality. He is the only person from the area who is involved in making vermicompost and becomes successful.

Yet a thought nagged him all the time. “What are we eating,” he would mull frequently about the pervasiveness of adulterated and contaminated food in the capital’s grocery shops and markets.
