16 more die, 369 get Covid

The health authorities in Bangladesh recorded 16 more coronavirus-related deaths and 369 new cases in the last 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday.

The total number of deaths from the virus now reached 8,127 in the country while the mortality rate stands at 1.52 percent, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a handout.

Of the 16 dead, 14 are men and two women.

Besides, 369 new cases were detected during the same period, increasing the national tally to 535,139.

The daily detection rate fell to 3.02 percent while the current overall rate is 14.65 percent.

Until yesterday morning, 479,744 patients (89.65 percent) have recovered.

So far, 3,651,722 samples have been tested, including 12,285 in those 24 hours.

Earlier on Saturday, the country recorded 363 coronavirus cases and 17 fatalities.

Bangladesh reported its first Coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
