2 arrested for raping 7-year-old in Bagerhat

Police yesterday arrested two teenage boys for their alleged involvement in the rape of a minor girl in Bagerhat's Chitalmari upazila.

The victim's father filed a case against the duo with Chitalmari Police Station on Thursday night, said police.

Mir Shariful Haque, officer-in-charge of the police station, said the duo raped the minor girl at a sugarcane field next to her house.

The child's father caught them red-handed on the spot and later filed a case mentioning their names, the police officer added.

The girl was rushed to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition and later sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for better treatment and medical tests, he further said.

The arrestees will be sent to a court soon, he said.
