According to local sources, the alleged rapists went to a village arbitration to conceal the incident. On information, police intervened and conducted drives to arrest the miscreants.

Fazlul Karim, senior assistant superintendent of Cumilla police, said the victim and her husband both were mentally challenged. Their family did not even know how to file a complaint.

Knowing about it, police called them to the police station, accepted a case, and then took further steps, he added.
