Police yesterday arrested a trader in Gaushia Market area in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila over the “rape” of a woman.

The arrestee, Kausar Mollah, is from Ranidi Atadi village in Araihazar upazila.
Law enforcers picked up the 30-year-old trader in the afternoon, hours after the woman, aged about 22, filed a rape case against him with Araihazar Police Station.

The girl pressed Kausar to marry her, but in vain. The OC said they sent the arrestee to jail through a Narayanganj court.
The woman was sent to a Narayanganj General Hospital for medical examinations.
