26 deaths in speedboat accident: case filed against 4

A case was filed in connection with the speedboat accident that killed 26 people, crashing into a sand-laden bulk carrier in the Padma river in Madaripur.
Naval police filed the case with Shibchar Police Station early today accusing four people, reports our Faridpur correspondent quoting Miraj Hosen, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The accused in the case are leaseholder of Shimulia Ghat Shah Alam Khan, owners of the speedboat Chandu Mia and Jahirul Islam and its driver Shah Alam.
"Naval police will investigate the case, we will help them if needed," OC Miraj Hosen said.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe-body under the Ministry of shipping was formed to look into the accident. Iqbal Ahmed, a joint director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, has been made the convener of the investigation committee.
The committee was directed to submit its report within the next seven working days.
