6 coaches of metro train reach Mongla port

The first consignment of six coaches of metro train arrived at Mongla port this afternoon.
MV SPM Bangkok, carrying the first set of metro train, arrived at Mongla seaport at 4:18 pm, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said in its Facebook page.
The ship carrying the metro train set started its journey from Kobe port of Japan on March 4.
The first two coaches of the six passenger coaches of the metro train set will be moved from the main ship SPM Bangkok to the barge today to bring them to Uttara of Dhaka, it said.
Unloading activities of the imported bogies have already started from the yard No. 7 of Mongla port this evening, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.
The remaining four coaches are expected to be shifted to the barge by tomorrow, DMTCL said.
After completion of duty and VAT related formalities at Mongla port, the barge carrying the first metro train set is likely to start its journey on April 11 for the newly constructed jetty adjacent to the depot on the north bank of the Turag River in Dhaka. It is expected to reach the depot in Uttara on April 23, it said.
