7-day restrictions: Uber resumes car services

Ride-sharing service Uber has resumed operating cars as the government decided to allow public transport services in 11 major cities in the country from today amid the weeklong restrictions to curb coronavirus spread.
"In accordance with directives from the Government of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), we have resumed car services, such as UberX, UberXL, Premier and Rental," said an Uber spokesperson.
"We believe this will facilitate access to safer and reliable mobility options for riders in these challenging times," added the spokesman.
However, use of motorcycles under ride-sharing service remains suspended.
Keeping in mind the rising Covid-19 infection rates, the BRTA earlier banned operation of motorcycles under ride-sharing services to ensure health safety guidelines and social distancing.
