Ambulance-truck collision leaves 2 dead in Narayanganj

Two people were killed and three were injured in a collision between an ambulance and a truck in Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila.

The deceased were, Md Humayun (40) and Faruk Hossain (35). They both were from Gopalpur area of Cumilla. The injured are still unidentified.

Officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police, Moniruzzaman, told The Daily Star that a Dhaka-bound ambulance collided with a cargo truck coming from the opposite direction on Kanchpur Highway early today.

Humayun and Faruk were both dead on the spot, and the other injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by the locals in critical condition, he added. 

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to Narayanganj General Hospital for post-mortem. The truck and ambulance were brought to the police station, Moniruzzaman said.

The truck driver and his helper escaped from the scene but preparations are underway to file a case in this regard, he added.
