Carry out dawn-to-dusk hartal peacefully tomorrow: Hefajat to its leaders, activists

Hefajat-e-Islam today said they would enforce a "peaceful" dawn-to-dusk countrywide hartal tomorrow protesting the killing of and attack on Hefajat men at Chattogram and Brahmanbaria on Friday.
"We are calling upon our leaders and activists to carry out the dawn-to-dusk hartal across the country tomorrow peacefully," Nurul Islam, Hefajat secretary general, said at a press conference at Makhjanul Ulum Madrasa in the city's Khilgaon.
The Hefajat leader also urged its activists to ensure that no one engages in any vandalism or arson activities using Hefajat's name during the hartal.
Hefajat leaders said emergency services including hospital, ambulance, vehicles of fire service and newspapers, medicine shops and restaurants will remain out of the hartal purview.
While speaking at the press conference, Nurul Islam called upon the law enforcement agencies and the government to cooperate during the hartal instead of creating any obstacle.
In the briefing, Hefajat leaders warned that they will announce tougher programmes if the government creates any obstacle during the hartal.
Hefajat's central and Dhaka city leaders were present at the briefing.
