Couple among 3 killed in Rajshahi accident

Three people, including a couple, were killed on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway as a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw today.

The deceased are Abdus Sattar (55) and his wife Ferdausi Begum (47) of Chapainawabganj district, and the auto-rickshaw driver Ansar Ali (45).

Rajshahi Damkura Officer-In-Charge Mahbub Hossain said that Abdus Sattar and Ferdausi were on their way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for the latter's treatment.

The accident happened when their auto-rickshaw reached Muraripur in Paba upazila around noon today, the OC said.

Driver Ansar died on the spot while the couple succumbed to their injuries after they were taken to the RMCH.

OC Mahbub said the truck was seized but the trucker and his helper fled the scene.

The bodies would be handed over after their postmortem at the hospital, he added.
