Failure to ensure workers' safety: Operation at Ctg shipyard suspended

The Ministry of Industries has suspended the operation of a ship-breaking yard in Chattogram's Sitakunda upazila over its failure to ensure workers' safety.

The ministry took the action to shut down Motaleb Steel after an accident saw the death of a worker at the shipyard on May 27.

The operation of Motaleb Steel was suspended for its failure to protect worker's life, Zafar Ullah, additional secretary of the ministry said.

"We have formed an investigation committee to probe the accident. After the report, we will take further action," he said.
