Fakhrul calls home minister to inform on Khaleda Zia’s health status

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal this evening to inform him of the health status of the party's chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Fakhrul confirmed the matter to The Daily Star tonight.
Khaleda Zia, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 11 and April 24, was transferred to the coronary care unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital with breathing issues earlier today.
Asked whether there was an appeal from Khaleda's family to take her abroad, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told The Daily Star, "No, it is not true. No appeal has reached me."
Fakhrul also denied that there was such an appeal made by Khaleda's family to the home minister.
Sources at the home ministry said Fakhrul had phoned the home minister this evening to inform him about her health condition.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Tuesday night for some medical tests.
