Fire at Habiganj oil refinery under control

A fire broke out at an oil refinery of Sylhet Gasfield in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj early today.

Six units of firefighters brought the blaze under control around 2:45am after trying for two hours, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting Deputy Assistant Director Shimul Rafi of Habiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The fire started around 12:15am in a 4,000 barrel oil refinery container at the Borogaon Oil Refinery in Rashidpur area, the official said.

No casualties were reported so far and extent of damage was yet to be known.

Raonkul Islam Apu, general manager of the plant, said it was not yet known how the fire started.
