Govt considering dedicated TV channel for students: Dipu Moni

The government is considering launching a dedicated TV channel for students so that they can take part in the digital classes throughout the year, Education Minister Dipu Moni told the parliament today.
The minister said this in response to a question from Awami League lawmaker Shahiduzzaman Sarker from Naogaon-2.
At the beginning of the House sitting, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, who presided over the sitting, tabled the question-answer scheduled for ministers.
Mentioning that in-person classes at universities will start with students getting vaccinated, the education minister said all university students will be brought under inoculation programme as soon as possible on priority basis in line with the prime minister's instructions.
She also said the immunisation programme will begin with residential students. The dormitories will be opened after the residential students are vaccinated and then, classes will begin, the minister said.
The education minister said, each university has been instructed to prepare recovery plans according to their own capabilities and realities and take steps to implement them.
"A guideline from the University Grants Commission will be sent to the university in this regard."
The minister said online classes are being taken at all universities at present. Examinations are also being taken online at private universities, she said.
Replying to a query, the education minister said that registration of educational institutions under Monthly Paper Order is an ongoing process. In light of the policy, educational institutions without MPO are gradually enrolled in MPO on the basis of eligibility. All educational institutions which are not MPO registered will be considered for registration, she added.
