Govt extends border closure with India for 14 more days

Travel ban via land borders with India has been extended for 14 more days, a foreign ministry official has said.

The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting headed by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen amid detection of the Indian Covid-19 variant in some bordering districts of Bangladesh.

The borders remain sealed for passenger travel since April 26.

However, trucks transporting goods will remain operational, the foreign ministry official told The Daily Star today.
