Govt starts repair work in cyclone-affected coastal areas

Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said the government has started repair works, including immediate rehabilitation, in the country’s coastal areas affected by Cyclone Yaas.

"The control rooms of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Water Development Board have maintained constant communication during the cyclone and the extent of the damage has greatly reduced due to following immediate advice and providing necessary assistance," he said while visiting Shubhgram area of Naria municipality on the bank of the Padma river.

He added that the government is fully prepared during the coronavirus pandemic to reduce any kind of damage in the upcoming monsoon and flood season.

Under the worthy leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Water Development Board have completed all the preparatory works to this end, he said.
