Govt is taking initiatives for safe labour migration, says Expatriates’ Welfare minister

The government has taken initiatives to build 100 new technical training centres including specialised ones to send skilled workers to international labour market, said Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad today.
The government also undertook various other initiatives to ensure safe and orderly labour migration, said the minister during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador in Bangladesh Essa Yousef Essa Alduhailan at the former's office this afternoon.
A decision was taken to hold monthly meetings between expatriates' welfare ministry and the Saudi embassy in Dhaka on a regular basis to address different issues related to migrants' wellbeing.
The meeting also discussed on visa processing for migrant workers and issuance of smartcard in the shortest time, employment for Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia at minimum migration cost, and preventing influence of unscrupulous middlemen in the recruitment process, the statement added.
