At least 1,500 unidentified persons were sued in six cases filed with Hathazari Police Station in connection with the clash between police and Hefajat-e-Islam activists, during anti-Modi protest in Chattogram.

"Police filed four cases over attacking policemen, vandalising police station, and other charges accusing unidentified persons," SM Rashidul Haque, superintendent of Chattogram police, told our staff correspondent.

"I cannot accurately say the exact number of the total accused," he added.

"Officials of Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) office of Hathazari upazila also filed two cases over vandalising their office and setting an official vehicle on fire during the mayhem," added SP Rashidul.

However, he did not reveal if any Hefajat leaders were among the accused in the cases.
