LGRD minister asks local representatives to be prepared to face Cyclone Yaas

Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tazul Islam today urged the public representatives of local government to be prepared to face Cyclone Yaas which is likely to cross West Bengal coast of India by tomorrow noon.
The minister came up with the direction at an emergency virtual meeting on preparation of Cyclone Yass.
Tazul Islam said there is close contact between public representatives and all walks of people, and they can play a vital role to make them aware and warn about disaster.
He said they have already opened a control room (phone no. 9545415) to monitor and coordinate advance works of different agencies under local government division (LGD).
He directed the officials concerned to keep in constant touch with the central control room and other locally opened control rooms in the coastal areas to deal with any situation.
The minister said Department of Public Health Engineering has already prepared mobile water treatment plants, water purifying tablets, sanitation management and other relevant equipment to face the disaster.
