Lightning kills 3 farmers in 2 districts

Three farmers were killed by lightning in Shariatpur and Madaripur districts today.

In Shariatpur, two farmers -- Tazul Islam (62), hailing from Joyshagor village of Jajira upazila, and Malek Peda (42), hailing from Rarikandi village -- were struck by lightning while they were working at a paddy field at 2:00pm today, reports our correspondent quoting Ashrafuzzaman Bhuiyan, upazila nirbahi officer of Jajira upazia.

They were killed on the spot, added the UNO.

In Madaripur, a farmer named Ibrahim Bepari was killed by lightning during a storm at Shibchar upazila of the district while working on his yard today, reports our correspondent quoting sources.
