Narayanganj gas explosion: 1 of the 11 injured dies

One of the 11 members of two families, who suffered injuries after a gas explosion at a building in Narayanganj Sadar upazila, died at a hospital in Dhaka this morning.
Aleya Begum, 38, breathed her last around 2:00am while being treated at the Intensive Care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of the institute said.
She sustained 95 percent burns, he said.
One Friday, 11 members of the families sustained injures after the gas explosion. Six of the injured were sent to the burn institute as their conditions were critical.
Four of them are still under treatment at the hospital while two were released earlier.
Fire officials suspected that there might be a leak in gas connection or the residents did not turn off the stoves before going to sleep on Thursday night.
Gas accumulated in the rooms and when someone tried to turn on the stove, it exploded around 6am.
A part of the wall collapsed due to the explosion. Windows and doors were also smashed while furniture and clothes were burnt to ashes.
