Rail communication on Dhaka-Chattogram, Dhaka-Sylhet, and Dhaka-Noakhali routes resumed 12 hours after suspension yesterday.

The rail service resumed around 10:00pm yesterday, our local correspondent reports quoting Md Kamrul Hasan, superintendent of police (Chattogram zone) of Railway Police.

The communication was suspended since 9:30am yesterday as Hefajat-e Islam supporters put a barricade on the rail tracks in Brahmanbaria during yesterday's hartal.

SP Kamrul said that the picketers threw brick chips targeting Sonar Bangla Express when the train was going to Chattogram from Dhaka in the morning. Following this, the train service was suspended.

Brahmanbaria Akhaura Railway Police Officer-In-Charge Majharul Karim said the authorities resumed train movement around 10:00pm when situation in the area became normal.

The railway authorities canceled the stoppage at Brahmanbaria Railway Station for all trains as all the signals were damaged in a fire set by picketers.
