Rajshahi Medical College Hospital's Covid-19 unit sees lowest single-day deaths in a week

Four people died at the coronavirus unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital -- the lowest single-day death toll in a week -- in 24 hours till this morning.
Of them, one was Covid-19 positive while the rest had symptoms of the infection, RMCH's Deputy Director Dr Saiful Ferdous told The Daily Star.
The doctor said the person who died of the virus was a resident of Chapainawabganj while the three others were from Rajshahi.
A total of 366 samples were tested at the hospital in the last 24 hours and of them, 143 tested positive for coronavirus. The infection rate was 39.07 percent.
In total, 289 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital's coronavirus unit at present.
In Khulna, five people died at Khulna Medical College Hospital's coronavirus unit in last 24 hours, Suhash Ranjan Haldar, a resident medical officer of KMCH and focal person of the coronavirus unit, told The Daily Star.

Among the deceased, a person from Bagerhat was Covid-19 positive while the rest had symptoms, he said.
Till 10:30am today, 131 people were undergoing treatment at the hospital where the bed number is 100.
One hundred and thirty-five were diagnosed with Covid-19 after testing 376 samples at the hospital during the period. Among the infected persons, 116 were from Khulna, 13 from Bagerhat, three from Satkhira, two from Jashore and one from Pirojpur.
To check transmission, Khulna district administration has imposed a one-week fresh restrictions on public and transport movements, which will come into effect from midnight.
