At least six persons including a child were burnt in a fire at a house in Ashulia area in early in the morning.

The injured are: Renu Begum, 28, her husband Awal Islam, 35, their daughter Arfia, 9; Adury Khatun, 30, her husband Abdul Hakim, 35; and Afroza Begum, 40.

The fire originated at a tin-shed house when the injured -- all but the child garment factory workers -- were in sleep around 5:00am.

They are neighbours and live in adjacent rooms of the tin-shed house, said injured Renu.

"We went to bed last night and woke up in the morning seeing a raging fire. The blaze engulfed us before we could run to safety. We do not know how the fire originated."

She, however, suspected that gas leak might have led to the fire.

Jahangir Alam, senior station officer of DEPZ Fire Station said they are suspecting the fire originated due to gas leakage.
