At least two people died and five were injured when a truck veered off the road in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram today.

The incident took place at Shitolpur area of Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila in the morning, our staff correspondent reports.

The deceased were identified as Atikur Rahman (27) and Abdul Khalek (50). Details about the victims were not available from police.

Anwarul Haque, fire fighter of Kumira Fire Station in Sitakunda upazila told The Daily Star that the truck was carrying passengers from Naogaon district to Chattogram.

When it reached Shitolpur, the truck lost control and veered off the road -- leaving seven injured, he added.

Alauddin Talukdar, assistant sub-inspector of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Police box told The Daily Star that seven people were brought to CMCH where doctors declared two dead.
