The bodies of newborn twins still remain at Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue since Thursday, after a man claiming to be their father, admitted them in critical condition.

A man named Babu from Pirganj upazila of Rangpur (as mentioned in the hospital's register) brought the twins at 3:15am on Thursday, reports our Dinajpur correspondent quoting police and hospital authorities.

On-duty Dr Mostofa, after giving the twins primary treatment, admitted them at the Pediatric Ward-9, where they died at 2:20pm on the same day, said police.

"Nobody came to take the bodies of the twins yet. The register book of the hospital do not have the village name and mobile number of the man named Babu. Therefore, it is quite difficult to locate the person who brought them to the hospital," Kotwali Police Station Sub-inspector Mamunur Rashid told The Daily Star.

"A case has been filed regarding the matter at the police station," the SI said.

"Autopsies will be conducted on the twins. If no one comes to take them, then they will be buried through the services of Anjuman Mufidul Islam," he added
